I have almost all the sims 2 for my laptop. It meets all the gaming requirements and freezes. Either at the main screen or at a neighborhood. I have some custom content on my laptop and that doesnt seem to be thr problem...HELP!Sims..........?
Try this....go to My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2 and locate the two cache files. Delete them then start the game. The game will rewrite those files. (It is not uncommon for corruption in those files to make the game crash or not even load up.

You could also try shutting down any background tasks before starting the game, especially anti virus programs.
Control+Alt+Delete for the task manager.
