Aren't they pretty much the same, just Sims 3 has a little more involved? I've never had a problem with Sims 2, but for some reason Sims 3 crashes periodically. How come Sims 2 works fine on my computer, but Sims 3 is slow and crashes?
Hey xD
I had the same problem. My computer ran fine on sims 2, but It wouldn't even run the sims 3. This is because some computers just don't have the right requirements. For example, it requires much more memory then the sims 2. Here are the requirements if you didn't already know them:
PC: Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista SP1
CPU: {XP} 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent {vista} 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
RAM: {XP} 1 GB RAM; {vista} 1.5 GB RAM
HARD DRIVE: 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games
VIDEO: DirectX 9.0c compatible
MAC: Mac OS X 10.5.7 leopard or higher
CPU: Intel Core Duo Processor
RAM: 2 GB RAM
DISC DRIVE: 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games
VIDEO: ATI X1600 or Nividia 7300 GT with 128 MB of video RAM or Intel Integrated GMA X3100
If your computer doesn't fit these I suggest looking for a better computer... that's what I had to do. I got a laptop actually, the HP Pavilion dv6t. It runs great with the Sims 3. Or, you could see if you could get a new hard drive and add some memory. :D hope this helps! How come Sims 2 works fine on my computer, but Sims 3 is slow and crashes?
Sim 3 is a bit stronger (meaning graphics, engine, etc) than Sims 2 so it requires a more powerful PC. If you lower the settings or your resolution it should run better. How come Sims 2 works fine on my computer, but Sims 3 is slow and crashes?
sims 3 is running on a better engine the the sims 3 just turn off some details and play in windowed mode and you should be fine
sims 3 takes up more memory. to make it run faster u can buy a new hard-drive or delete other games from your computer
