How do I get Sims in separate households to interact in The Sims 3?

Perhaps a silly question, but I can't figure it out!! Do I have to go to Edit Town, or what? All I want to do is create two separate Sims, who live in different houses, and have them meet!

Thanks everyone! How do I get Sims in separate households to interact in The Sims 3?
Okay, so you have the sims, right? if not, create them, but make sure they're two separate families. Once created, move the first sims into their house. Settle them in and play them until you want to move in the next sim. Now, go to edit town, and select the little 'change active household' button. click to move in sims, then move your other sim into their house. now you can tell one of your sims to go and visit the other one by finding your other sims house and knocking on the door. Or perhaps you could just play for a while until they meet up in town or something. but if you're planning on doing that, I would recommend that you go to options and turn off story progression, because you wouldn't want one of them getting married to another sim before they meet!!!!!How do I get Sims in separate households to interact in The Sims 3?
you're on the right track. edit town. make the seperate households. play as one of them, and have that sim visit the other household. that's they only "for sure" way for them to meet.

You need to make two separate households, each with one of the Sims in. You go to edit town, and move the other household into another house. If you select the households door whilst on the other household in live mode, you can usually select 'Visit Household' which speeds up the whole 'meet the other sim' process considerably.
