How much different is Sims 3 from the Sims 2?

Okay, I love Sims 2!!! I have almost every one, but I really want the Sims 3! Is it a lot better than Sims 3? Do you have to buy more games for it like the Sims 2? And do they have good clothes and furniture? How much is it?|||I just got and installed the Sims 3! I love both of them, I really haven't gotten to play the game but so far so good. The controls are different, instead of being able to drag your cursor where you want the camera to move to you have to click and drag, which frustrates me and will take time getting used too. The way things are organized are also different. But i really do think it is better.

There aren't any expansion packs so far, but there is the create a style which is amazing! You can match your shoes to your dress. And you can change the colors of about everything (i.e. bike, car, laptop, curtains on bed, clothes hair, makeup, walls, furniture, cabinets chairs dessers and more). I am sure that they will have more expansion packs because you aren't able to go to collage.

The clothes are good but the adult hair is laking styles, but when you buy the game you get a ten dollar cash card and then you can go on the sims 3 website and get some cooler hair. What I also like is you can add highlights and tip and root colors.

Right now the Sims 3 is $49.99 (including the cash card), this is what I have and reccomend, with the collectors eddition it is $59.99 and you get a car, USB stick and one other thing, but if you are going to get a game guide I highly reccomend that you get the regular Sims 3.

The game guide I reccomend is the collectors eddition, it is $20.00. This is not for the Collectors edditon game, you can have either. You get a map of Sunset valley, mouse pad, and a detailed description of the game. It is sold at Best buy, the link is below

Hope it Helped!!!!|||hi, u can drag camera just go to options and can change camera controls, its easier then wen ur decorating and stuff.

|||You can go to settings and click "enable screen roll" (or something like that.) It is really good because you can customize EVERYTHING!!!!!!!

|||Well lets start off with the cost, the regular sims 3 is 49.95 with tax it's about 53.46. The sims 2 is awesome, but I'm sure if you're a sims 2 fan you would love the sims 3. Basically what EA did was improve on everything, i.e. corner cabinets are now accessible, you can just walk over to your neighbors and talk, you can design specific clothes, specific colors, it is way more realistic, and if you like to make movies it is way more easy. I would recommend you buy it, it's really addicting, i've played literally for like 5 hours straight. Yes of course you must buy expansion packs but it has a lot to offer. The clothes are nice but they are even better since you can change the color and texture, and what is cool about the furniture is you can virtually put it anywhere at any position, even diagonal, i believe it's worth it, hey I'm satisfied without the expansion packs, i'n sure you would like it!|||Yes. They will more than likely make expansion packs for the Sims 3 like pets and stuff like that.

The clothes and furniture can be customized into almost any design so the possibilities are endless!

It's $50. It has better graphics. You're Sim won't have to use the bathroom as often. No loading screens, so you aren't confined to one lot at a time. More personality traits such as: Artistic, Athletic, Brave, Charismatic, Childish, Commitment Issues,

Conversationalist, Cursed,Daredevil ,Dreamer, Easily Bored,Evil

Family-Oriented, Flirt, Fortunate ,Friendly, Frugal, Genius,

Gloomy,Green Thumb ,Sense of Humor, Grumpy ,Handy, Hot-Headed, Inappropriate, Insensitive,Kleptomaniac ,Light Sleeper Mooch, Natural Cook ,Neat, Outdoorsman,Paranoid ,Partier ,Perfectionist, Pizza Lover, Playful Rude Schmoozer Shy Slob Unforgiving, Workaholic, Worrywart, Vegan and many more!

You can also follow your Sim to work and help him/her make decisions that may or may not help them get a promotion.

In Create-A-Sim there are:

-There are no curly hair, but are some very long hair.

- There is no underwear section anymore.

- Male Sims can wear makeup.

- There’s a “Create-a-Twin” tool for every age.

- Changing hair/clothing/face is easy. You can just click on them and the CAS takes you directly to the right menu for editing whatever you selected.

- There is an eyelash length slider bar.

- Socks and Shoes are also fully customizable. They are chosen seperately per outfit, as well.-

You can set lifespans to range from 25–1,000 days or turn aging off completely.

- Every article of clothing is always available to you in the game, and are always recolorable. So no need to ‘buy’ clothing.-

Ghosts are playable, can marry living Sims, and even make ghost babies.

Hope This helps!|||1) It is similar and yet very different. It's more set like legacy-style play, if you're familiar; rather than building an entire neighborhood and playing all the families, you pick one family and stick with it, and the other families will progress by themselves. They will have babies, move around, get married, have jobs, etc. The needs system is also slightly different; it is easier to fill mood bars. However, relationships are now more difficult. It's simply a different game. I did not like it at all at first, but after playing for some time, I came to enjoy it as much if not more than TS2.

2) There are as yet no expansion packs for TS3, which is what I assume you mean when you say "more games" for TS2. There is talk of an expansion being worked on and I think it is safe to assume that there will be expansions in the future. For now, all we have is the base game.

3) Price varies by location. Check with your local Wal-Mart, Game Stop, Best Buy, Hastings, etc. to find out the price.|||I own all sims 1 and sims 2 games. But! the sims 3 is a must buy. It really goes deep in the playing. after a while i felt like a sim. I am a little dissoppointed with the way their is not as much furniture or clothes as the sims 2 but you can download all that you want off the site. The sims 3 is the best game i have played in a long time. It is a little bit harder to play than the sims 2 and 1. The controlls are diffrent and that trough me off a little. But if you like the sims 2 you will love the sims 3. you do not have to buy any game but the sims 3 to play it. The game is about 50 dollars but its worth every simlon. There are not much clothes or furniture but what is there is better than the sims 2.|||I love it but there are some things I was disappointed with.

1) They give you way too many options in the create-a-sim. It took me forever to make a family and by the last person I just started to give up.

2) The graphics aren't as good as I expected them to be.

3) The fast mode is not fast at all and it takes forever to fast forward through the night and work.

But I think those are just small things. Overall, the game is definitely a step up from the sims 2 because there is more to do all together. People call you and ask for you to do stuff for them and you get paid, raises at work, or even promotions at work for them. Also, you can choose multiple paths in the same genre of career so two sims in the law enforcement career can have two different jobs.

Well there is a lot to say but I'm going to end it here.

Have fun! =]

Oh and they left stuff out so they could make expansion packs. Like sims can't go to college in the regular game. I would expect the first expansion pack to come out in 6 months to a year and the rest to follow rapidly after that.|||I think Sims 3 is cool and fun, but Sims 1 to Sims 2 was a bigger jump.

Sims 3 has

more realistic faces

easy to customise and change colour of clothes. You can take any of the textures (rock, cloth, tiles etc.) and put it on your clothes.

There is some new furniture but overall not that different.

No loading sequences when going around the neighborhood

you can see the places where you work

lots of new interactions and the aspiration system is different.|||I just bought the sims 3. The things you can do with the sims 3 you can basically do with a lot of the expansion packs of sims 2. I prefer the sims 3 though, because its all in one game. The cool thing is that I like, is that you can arrange furniture and objects to an angle. Another thing that is cool is that you can go around town and do some really awesome things. I believe they are making expansion packs, but not anytime soon... Another thing I like is that you can make your own color to your hair, clothes, and furniture!!! You can also choose the design and everything. For the hair you can change the color of the roots, tips, highlights, and the main color. You can do the same to hats. It's just one amazing game. :) The sims 3 is usually $49.99 but since I live up in Alaska, and theres also no sales tax, it was $49.95..... I reccomend the sims 3. The only issue I have had with it, is that it keeps freezing but that is because my pc is REALLY old. It's one cool game:)|||There are some big improvements that I had always wanted for Sims 2. For starters you can go to your neighbors house easily by crossing the street without having to zone and load to a different area. In Sims 3, characters have more of a personality and since of realism. Sims show more emotion, better graphics, more character details etx. 4. The downside to this is you can only play the guitar as an instrument. Hopefully they will patch that up with more items to play rather just one.|||Okay the Sims 3 is more digital and has more options than the Sims 2.Like you can pick the size and shape of your sim also you can choose patterns to color cordinate you objects. The sims 2 only allows you to pick the person fat or skinny then it depends on exercise they get. Then you could only pick from a certain amount of colors. Also in Sims 3 you get more options in clothers and cars . I am a big car fan so thats what i loved about this game.|||It is harder to get bored with the Sims 3 bc they actually give you missions and opportunities to complete and it is so easy to do things out of your house. I thought I wasn't enjoying the game until I looked up and realized I had been playing it for 3 hours! I didn't realize how engulfed I was in the game. Another plus is that every thing is literally customizable trust me no sims can be just alike.

CONS: it's a lot harder to maintain you sims and do all the things you want to. I'm also having trouble with things like the marriage and dating option but that might be a glitch I have and need to reinstall to fix.|||Man, it is awesome. It is really realistic, you can travel anywhere in the neighborhood in seconds, and there are a lot of new clothes and furniture. In create a sim, you can even change their voices and make them cowards, vegitarians, losers, and so on. You can also take their clothes and hair and make them any color or texture you want. Same with furniture. There are also many other cool things to do, but i can't name them all. As for expansion packs, EA will probably make them, and the game is $50(I'm now officially broke.) Happy Simming :)|||Well, It's quite different from Sims 2. You grow up with your whole town like you would in your actual community, Instead of just with your own family. Which is nice. I love the Sims 3, but I won't ever forget the Sims 2 which I have just about everyone. No, You don't need to buy any other games for Sims 3. Right now it's just Sims 3. I don't know if they are going to come out with Expansion packs or not. As of now, No other games are needed but the Sims 3 itself. Yes, they have pretty good clothes and furniture. You can customize any piece of clothing or furniture. Which is called Create-A-Style. The game it's self is about $50. The Collectors Edition is $70 So, If you don't need a USB port thingy, Don't get the collectors edition. Hope I helped! Have Fun!|||Sims 3 is 50 dollars and 70 for the edition one

Sims 3 is better because,of course you can go around town

Also the personalities is really neat. It's alot more realistic.

%26amp;%26amp; way better clothes and furnituree.

You can pick whatever design or color of house, hair, clothes, eyes, lips, skin, shoes(… they have shoesss),and almost everything else.

But there are alot of things I like better then Sims 2 though.

For example in the Sims3 I don't think they have the green drink that makes people younger..They don't have all the stuff in that box period. The set up of sims 2 was muchmuch easier.

Sims 3 is having some difficulties like they have this speed problem. The speed thing doesnt work %26amp; people have to wait like 7 minutes for there sims to sleep T-T.The view is kind of hard to because u can't move your mouse %26amp; the screen will move but u have to actually click the button..overall there is still alot of problems with sims 3.

But sims3 overall is better minus the speed and problems

Soooooo....I think you should wait on sims 3 and just keep on check with the sims3 site %26amp; see if they have fix things before you get it.

%26amp; with the expansions for sims3,I'm pretty sure they will have some just like sims 1 and sims 2|||well the sims 3 is the newest and bella and mortimer are young sims.you can explore the entire place with no loading screens you can buy a car or a bike and even when you are playing other sims age you can change the colors of your furniture and it costs 50 dollars and it has good graphics and sims 3 doesnt have any expansion packs at first. the neighborhood has changed in the sims 2 it was pleasantview but now its sunset valley and sims 3 better.im planning to buy it|||The Sims 3 introduces traits and how they affect the Sim and their world. It also lets you customize almost every single item in the game. The babies are now wrapped in blankets and colored according to their sex. Jobs know have the options in which they build their performance as well as other tasks to help you improve your chances of getting promotions. Seamless neighborhoods lets you travel anywhere without the usual loading screens. It's really cool but I still prefer the Sims 2.|||I luv you know what no word is good enough to explain how much i love it im in love...........................Anyway the sims 3 has endless possibilities for instance you can choose 5 personality traits and there are like 50 and each one effects your sim in a direrent wAY LIKE IF THEY ARE A KLepto they (accidentally)borrow things forever and you do have the choice to return it though also it runs much quicker because whenever you go somewhere you dont have to wait for it to load also another trait is vegatarian and they wont eat meat.Your sims can have a different root color base highlights and tip color for your sims hair. They can have blue, white, black, tan, green, and pink skin its awesome. Also you can pick your outfits and objects in your house and make them look however you want (new tool). Also your Jobs give you fun oppurtunities like if you are a police officer they will give you your own car and you can ask people police questions and for the political career you can throw campain parties and raise money for it.

I love the sims 3 and i dont need best answer i just needed to get that out

From simsbaby#1|||im not sure if you played the sims 1 before but going from the sims 2 to sims 3 is much like going from the sims 1 to sims 2. the graphics are much improved, along with creating a sim and the game has all new furniture. a big difference is that you can explore the community whereas in the sims 2 you had to go from lot to lot.

the sims 3 is $50 and im sure there will be just as many extension packs as there are for both sims 1 and sims 2 (notice how there are no pets, which are always added with an extension pack).

i would definitely suggest watching some of the videos on this page b/c they show you some new features and they give you a good idea of the game before you buy it:

http://www.thesims3.com/game/videos

if you are content with the sims 2 i would suggest waiting to purchase the sims 3 because they seems to always come out with the sims deluxe set shortly after the regular game has been release, but for the same price.|||I Just Bought it Yesterday. Here is what it has it Has.........

Better Graphics , Better Design tolls you can choose your own shoes Color Tool Print Tool (Lets You Different Fabric Prints like Flowers Cheetah Leopard Ect. ) Also a Voice tool To Make there voice higher or Lower no loading screens newer venues bistro city hall community Theater Business and Journalism office day spa diner Grocery store hospital military base police department school science facility sports stadium work and the criminal warehouse 64 traits create in game custom content you don't need to go out of the game to a body shop what you do is pick a color and change it the you have the in game Created Custom content and its 50.00 for the sims 3 and 70.00 for collectors edition|||I think it is awesome, you'll be very happy.

The clothes %26amp; furniture is okay, but then again you can recolor everything so the options could be endless - just click on say bedding and pick a different color (any color you want) or pattern (which you can color again in any way you want).

Also with aging - you can turn it off completely or set a speed for it - your sims can live up to like 960 days if you prefer..or a lot shorter...

Jobs are more realistic - you can run to work even if you're 5 hours late...(My wife had our baby on the hour my shift started so I just stayed at hospital until baby was born then went to work afterwards). Careers don't always end same, and you can get raises if your skills aren't up to scratch for that lvl job promotion. The stupid friends needed thing is gone - only skills and performance now. You can also work harder/be lazy etc. Careers are awesome.

Then there's so many other things like fishing, gardening, jogging, cycling...Grocery shopping more like in our world - you must pick apples, cheese, etc. etc. You must also buy books to read from bookshops or borrow from library.

Oh and the big difference is it loads so much quicker than Sims 2 and once you're in the game - NO FURTHER LOADING - just go anywhere in town...

Just buy it, you won't regret it.|||Hello. I bought the sims 3 yesterday, and before that, I have been playing the sims2. The main difference between the 2 is that in the sims 3, the people look more realistic, and you can customize the color/pattern for everything. The cheats on the sims 2 still work for the sims 3 (I was so surprised). In the sims 3, the sims can actually leave their homes to travel in the outside world. I was rather disappointed, ot to sound picky or anyting. I paid 45 dollars (it was a discounted rate) for a game that was so similar to the sims 2 (which I got for free). The places, stores, theatres in the sims 3 aren't really 'accessible' and there are a couple of bugs. If you ever downloaded sims 2 custom content, there is little difference of the items from sims 2 to sims 3. The sims 3 clothing has gotten a bit better, but sims 2 custom content is still better (in my opinion). Do not buy the game just yet. They need to fix some bugs and discount the rate... Oh, and I heard they were gonna do expansion packs as well.|||SIMS 2-

Stuck on one lot controlling one family, it took forever to earn a lot of money. And it was very dificult, limited to PC for filming. Graphics= OKAY, clothes=SUCK unless you have downloads.

SIMS 3-

Seamless neighborhood, controlling sims wherever they are, no loading screens AT ALL!!!! =D You can edit movies on the sims 3 website. Graphics= GOOD! Clothes= RULE in the sims 3 without downloads. All though, they would be nice. ;)

I hope this helps you in any way. =]|||It is way different than Sims 2 i love decorating and making my sims and playing in TS2 In TS3 it is a Lot of playing and making them get through a lot of steps and challenges to get to new places levels etc.

Also as said looks are FAR from real i have a top of the line System and it does not Look really all that great They look like cartoon characters

That said i LOVE playing it on a different level

if you want email me through my profile i know where you can get it to try it out before buying|||its awesome! i loved sims 2 a lot and i love sims 3 even more. its a lot more realistic with the personality trates. you can even pick your favorite foods colors, and music. i also love how you pick the furniture. its like a little picure of the room you pick on the peice of furniture you want (chair, desk ect) and chose whitch one you want. there are also more jobs. i LOVE you should definitly get it :D

also, i have a few cheats that i cant play the game without:

1. motherlode- it gives you $50,00 so you can achuly furnish your house

2. kaching- only $1,000 but good if you want them to have nicer stuff but still earn their own money

3. (my favorite) boolProp testingcheatsenabled true- basicly everything you could wish for. make them vampires, kill them, make them pregnant, change relationships, give them skill points, just press shift and click on them or the mailbox for extreme cheat awesomeness

PS. to open the cheat window press ctl shift c at the same time

hey sims people i have a question, help please http://answers.yahoo.com/question

/index;_ylt=AmxqwPiE_WfdHoHel1w36Ffsy6…|||IT IS SO FUN!

i bought it on the opening day and i'm addicted :D

you can walk around anywhere you want (in sims 2 %26amp; sims, you had to load between lots)

the sims themselves look pretty different

different jobs, different places to visit

There aren't any expansion packs out yet. i think there will be though. the clothes and hair is alright. i was expecting a bit more from that department. i got it at EB games for 56 dollar + taxes :)|||I agree with some of these people.. I was looking forward to it for soo long, but it is nothing like what I had expected. I can't figue it out but the graphics are much worse! It is almost like the original sims. And I agree that the characters are ugly! Its complicated and hard to understand. I am honestly mad, I do not like it at all. Sure there are more things to customize, but its really different and doesnt seem like its better than the Sims 2 at all.|||Okay well you know how they said that the sims look more life like well they kinda do

You can put furniture in corners which is a huge space saver the houses aren't that big tho i think the largest on in the town was 3 or 4 bedrooms im used to having a HUGE house

there is still same sex marriage but you cant have children.

There is also a new age Young adult they don`t go to school

THe clothes you can change the colors

Alot of other info at

http://www.snootysims.com/thesims3index.…|||Alright, everyone with positive reviews is correct. I'm not going to waste my time, lmao- I'll just answer the expansion pack question:

I heard from EA that instead of expansion packs, they were going to put up things on the Sims 3 website, so you can pick and choose what things you want in the game instead of having to download the whole thing and have a bunch of things you don't use.

But the game is AWESOME!

To the guy that said it included religions... o_0 I don't know what version you're playing. All the religious content I had in my Sims 2 game was custom content, and it was camera-pose stuff, book covers, cross necklaces, the Jewish hat-thing, and little statues. The sims didn't follow the religion- they LOOKED like they did. But there are no religions... unless you want to worship a rock star. XD|||Sims 3 is WAY better than the Sims 2. You can personalize characters with their personalities. I have the Sims 3 and I have not had to buy extra games for it. They do have very cool and new clothes and furniture to choose from. If you go on the sims 3 website, you can trade with other players.|||I have to say I am disappointed. I expected it to be an updated, better version of the Sims 2. But what I have found is that it is WAY slower. Not to mention when you visit different community lots there are NO people. And I often times like to fast forward through certain parts and on this game fast forward doesn't move any faster. It sucks in my opinion. I have been playing the Sims since they first came out. I have every expansion pack they've made, and I was waiting patiently for the Sims 3 to come out, (I reserved it in advance and was the first one at Best Buy this morning). What a waste of $50.|||I love Sims 2, but I have the game and all it's expansion packs on my PC. I recently bought a macbook, so the great advantage for me was having sims 3 on mac. So this made up my mind, not being so impressed with the differences between the two. This being said, I LOVE the game being based in the whole neighbourhood (which I thought I wouldn't) it's great fun! I also like the moodlets and opportunities (ditto) and the create custom colours (ditto) for some reason. The motives dominate less of the game, which I find better as you can work on wishes and friends instead of constantly feeding your sim mac and cheese after mac and cheese.

There are disadvantages: the sims aren't as lifelike (which some people like and others don't) and have constantly fat freakin' faces which REALLY irritates me. There are, like, no attractive sims. Also, there are hardly any furniture/ hair/ clothes because EA wants you to buy it all in their store and presumably because of the added customization available with the custom styling. The time is REALLY slow if you have one sim that works and sleeps, even with the new x4 speed I get verrry bored while my sim is at work.

To answer your specific questions, you may have to (well, i say HAVE to because I am neurotic like that) buy expansion packs in the future but not as of yet but I suspect they will bring them out.

The cost? I'm not sure where you're from but I'm in the UK and it costs me around £30. Here is the USA amazon link if you want to know about elsewhere: http://www.amazon.com/Sims-3-Pc/dp/B0016…

So yeah, there you go... have fun if you do buy it...
